• Retreats at Lismullin

The retreats at Lismullin are for all types of people: those who have never done a retreat before and those who have.

On arrival, there is an introductory session explaining what the retreat entails. There is a specific plan for the retreat: Mass, rosary, guided prayer, class, etc.

None of the activities on the retreat involve any of the attendees publicly expressing their insights or opinions. The retreat is silent. During the retreat there is the opportunity to speak to the priest either for the sacrament of confession or spiritual guidance. There is also a lay person available for guidance.

Lismullin provides a pleasant atmosphere conducive to personal reflection and study. It is located in the heart of Meath, very close to the historic Hill of Tara. A retreat at Lismullin will give depth to your convictions and encouragement to be an active disciple of our Lord.

We cannot bring to the world the Good News, which is Christ himself in person, if we ourselves are not deeply united with Christ, if we do not know him profoundly, personally, if we do not live on his words.
Pope Benedict XVI, as he finished his own retreat in Rome, March 2006

Why do a Retreat?

Wouldn't you like to take 'time-out' from the busy pace of life? A retreat gives you time and space to reflect on where your life is going. Just in the same way as Jesus took his disciples far from the crowds to teach and strenghten them in their faith, today He still invites us to come away and spend time with Him.

It is the policy of Lismullin Conference Centre that no one should ever be discouraged from attending a retreat because of difficulty in paying for it. If you are unable to pay the full cost, it is sufficient to pay whatever you are able, whenever you can. Optional contributions over and above the cost of the retreat for the upkeep of the conference centre can be made payable to Lismullin Conference Centre or sent to: Lismullin Office, 44 Westland Row, Dublin 2.

God calls us through what happens during our day: through the suffering and happiness of the people we live with, through the human interests of our colleagues and the things that make up our family life.
