SpeakerEdward J Bourke is a scientist working with Guinness in Dublin. Educated originally at Belvedere College and University College Dublin, where he completed a PhD in Microbiology, he has an interest in industrial history. This led to the publication of The Guinness Story: The Family, the Business and the Black Stuff, and various researches into brewing in Ireland. Previous publications on maritime history included three volumes of Shipwrecks of the Irish Coast, a photo publication on Irish shipwrecks and an analysis of story of the wreck of the emigrant ship Tayleur "Bound for Australia". The interest in Guinness history stemmed from exposure to the richness of the brewing story and the extensive photo archive at the brewery.
